Jesus promised his followers that “nothing will harm them.” (Luke 10:19) Yet we are always seeking ways to insulate ourselves from possible pain. Everything from the pads and helmets kids wear when they learn to ride their bikes to airbags, seatbelts, and more. We are surrounded by safety protections, and yet… sometimes we do get hurt. What if, sometimes, the protections we think will keep us safe no matter what lead us to be reckless? What if remembering how vulnerable we are opens us up to keep ourselves and others truly safe from harm? See you in church!
